> U.S. Men allow two late goals, fall to Denmark 3-2 Jozy Altidore tallied his 27th goal for the U.S. Men's National Team and added an assist on Aron Johannsson's third career strike, but it was not enough to offset Nicklas Bendtner's hat trick in a 3-2 loss to Denmark on Wednesday at NRGi Park. Baltimore Blast's Pat Healey and Tony Donatelli joined the U.S. National Arena Soccer Team on Wednesday night at the 2015 WMF World Cup. Forty-seven Virginia Legacy boys and girls were recently recognized by their coaches and media as being key players to watch for in the Spring 2015 Bay Rivers District Soccer Previews. Maryland United FC's teams found a lot of success during the winter season. The Stafford U16G Blue team had a successful preseason weekend at the FPYC Liberty Cup. FC Frederick '00 player Kara Poole has been named the club's third "Player on the Move." ---- Notes ----
The Washington Spirit will face the University of Virginia for its second opponent of preseason. Due to saturated field conditions, the exhibition has been moved to field #17 at the Maryland SoccerPlex. The kick off is still at 7pm. The Richmond Kickers have added two Richmond United players, midfielder Chris Durkin and goalkeeper Drew Romig, for the 2015 season. Former World Cup champion Berti Vogts appointed USMNT Technical Advisor: U.S. Soccer has appointed former World Cup winner Berti Vogts to be a Technical Advisor to the U.S. Men's National Team. A member of the German team that won the 1974 FIFA World Cup, Vogts brings a tremendous track record of success to the Men's National Team. Additionally, he coached the German squad to the 1996 European Championship - on which U.S. Men's National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann was team captain - and is one of only three coaches to lead Germany to a trophy in the last 25 years. A deeper diagnosis of the U.S.'s late-game defensive affliction: Another United States men's national team, another lead blown late on. If Wednesday's 3-2 loss at Denmark, courtesy of 83rd- and 91st-minute goals by Arsenal's onetime chance-fluffer-in-residence Nicklas Bendtner - to complete his hat trick no less - felt like a déjà vu, it's only because it was. Going back to June 1 of last year, the USA has given up 13 goals after the 80th minute in the 14 games they've played since then. In their last seven games, they have given away three wins and a tie in the last 10 minutes of regulation. |
