Welsh National Anthem just before Wales beat England 30 - 3.Saturday 16t...

I am Alex Moretto and I would like to thank you all for joining me here today. Good bye!
  • FULL TIME: NETHERLANDS 1-1 TURKEY. Wesley Sneijder's dramatic, late equalizer salvages a point for the Oranje as they avoid a first ever European Championship qualifying defeat on home soil. The draw ensures Guus Hiddink's side remain in third place in Group A, still two points ahead of Turkey for a spot in the play-off, though they will want more than that from this qualification campaign.

  • 90' + 6'
IT'S ALL OVER! A frantic finish in Amsterdam as the Dutch search for a winner, but they will be content with the point after it was looking like they would lose their first ever European qualifier on home soil.

  • 90' + 5'
Dost has had a great impact since coming on, winning nearly every ball played to him up top. He's been a beast in the air, but his teammates are not taking advantage.

  • 90' + 4'
STAT ATTACK: Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has now scored 11 goals in his last seven appearances for the Netherlands at home in European qualifiers.

  • 90' + 3'
NEARLY A WINNER! The ArenA nearly erupts as Depay unleashes a drive from 20 yard out, but he lifts the shot over the bar. Surely the Dutch can't steal a winner, can they?

  • 90' + 2'
    Assist Wesley Sneijder

  • AdTech Ad
    90' + 2'
    Goal Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

  • 90'
There have been a wealth of stoppages and substitutions in this second half and the referee has spoken to the Turkish players quite often about wasting time... and as a result we will have SIX minutes of stoppage time.

  • 88'
Waves of fans are pouring out of the stadium as we approach stoppage time. There is certainly a chance for the Dutch to grab an equalizer, but these fans are notorious for demanding the most from their team and this performance just doesn't cut it.

  • 86'
GOOD EFFORT! Depay skips forward to latch onto the end of a long ball forward, before laying it off for Sneijder. The midfielder has a go at goal and it dips at the far post, but Babacan fists it away. Narsingh collects the rebound to keep the pressure on, but neither him nor Van der Wiel can get a cross in before Turkey clear their lines.

  • 84'
Never mind finding a goal, the Netherlands can't seem to win the ball back! Turkey are doing a wonderful job of passing it around high up the pitch and precious time is running off the clock. The home support has seen about enough!

  • 82'
The Dutch have completely lost their shape and are looking entirely unorganized in the middle of the pitch. Sneijder has moved into a wider position on the left as they begin to resort to sending diagonal crosses into the box, with the hope that Huntelaar or Dost can use their big frames to get on the end of them.

  • 80'
OVER THE BAR! It's a good attack from the Dutch, which creates a few chaotic moments in the penalty area before the ball falls for Willems. The substitute has half the net gaping, but gets under his shot as he lifts it high! What a chance wasted!

  • AdTech Ad
    79'
    SubstitutionBurak YılmazKazım Kazım

  • 79'
Turkey make their final substitution of the night and it is the hero, Burak Yilmaz, who gives way. He gets a boisterous applause from the visiting supporters. Colin Kazim-Richards, who plays for Feyenoord, the rivals of Amsterdam's host club Ajax, is jeered as he makes his way onto the pitch.

  • 78'
It's another interesting change from Hiddink, who brings on PSV left-back Jetro Willems in place of Bruno Martins Indi. The hosts now have just one centre-back on the pitch, with nine attack-minded players in support - yet an equalizer doesn't appear imminent at the moment.

  • 77'
    SubstitutionBruno Martins IndiJetro Willems

  • 76'
STAT ATTACK: Turkey’s victory over Kazakhstan in their most recent group match ended a run of five-game winless drought in European qualifiers (D2, L3), their worst run since 1991 to 1994.

  • 74'
Turkey are defending this lead admirably, forcing the hosts into wider positions than they would usually like. They have been limited to sending crosses into the area, while the exceptional work of Topal has really helped limit the impact of Sneijder in the centre.

  • 72'
Much better! Good link-up play from the Dutch as Van der Wiel picks out Narsingh on the right. The winger sends a good cross in for Dost, but the substitute's header into the ground is corralled by Babacan.

  • 70'
HOW CLOSE WAS THAT?! Topal concedes a free kick with a foul on Afellay from close to 35 yards out, but Sneijder doesn't shy away from having a go. He can really hit them and it showed there, as the midfielder curls a powerful drive towards the near post, but hits the back frame of the goal! So nearly the equalizer!

  • 69'
    SubstitutionSerdar AzizErsan Adem Gülüm

  • 68'
Yellow Card Gregory van der Wiel
The flow of the game has been interrupted by a series of fouls and other stoppages. Netherlands' period of pressure has gone away completely now as Turkey begin to find their legs again, and substitute Hakan Calhanoglu makes his first impact as he wins a free kick, which also earns Van der Wiel the first booking for a Dutch player on the night.

  • 66'
STAT ATTACK: Netherlands have won 19 consecutive competitive matches on home soil, by a combined score of 69-7, since a scoreless draw with Romania in March 2007. They have kept clean sheets in 14 of those matches.

  • 64'
Guus Hidding is going for broke now. This is a special moment for Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost who is the one to come on here, picking up his first senior cap. He will replace defensive midfielder Nigel de Jong, meaning the Dutch not have six attack-minded players out there sitting in front of the defence.

  • 63'
    SubstitutionNigel De JongBas Dost

  • 62'
Pressure is building now and there is much more of a sense of urgency being shown by the Dutch. They are keeping the ball pinned in the Turkish half, but have been limited to sending rather ambitious crosses into the area which their opponents are dealing with quite easily.

  • 61'
    SubstitutionVolkan ŞenHakan Calhanoglu

  • 60'
STUNNING STRIKE! It comes from out of nowhere, too! De Jong makes a good challenge in midfield and the ball bounces into the path of Afellay who unleashes an incredible half-volley from 35 yards out, prompting a fine save from Babacan who gets a strong hand to it, tipping it over the bar.

  • 58'
A bit ambitious from Depay, I'd say. He gets into a good position at the top of the area and with Aziz affording him a bit of space, the winger takes advantage and tries to curl a shot in at the far post. It was always going to be difficult to score from there, however, as he gets little pace behind the shot with the keeper seeing it the whole way.

  • 56'
One of the loudest roars in quite some time is heard throughout the stadium as Bas Dost takes his tracksuit off and begins warming up. The applause is quickly drowned out as Yilmaz takes a pass and holds De Vrij off wonderfully, before winning a free kick near the halfway line.

  • 54'
SCUFFED WIDE! ABYSMAL! It's vintage Wes Sneijder. The midfielder takes a pass in midfield and delivers a super diagonal cross into the area for Huntelaar. Babacan rushes off his line and gets a piece of it before colliding with the striker. It falls for Narsingh, but with the goalkeeper well out of position, he scuffs his shot horribly and fails to hit the target!

  • 52'
STAT ATTACK: Captain Wesley Sneijder is making his 112th senior appearance for the Netherlands this evening, equalling former international and current Ajax manager Frank de Boer for the most among outfield players.

  • 50'
The home supporters are continuing to grow restless and now their discontent is being heard throughout the stadium. It has been far too straightforward for Turkey in defence and Guus Hiddink's body language says it all - looking very anxious on the touchline.

  • 48'
Huntelaar has to do a better job of linking up with his teammates. Netherlands have started the second half by taking up a much more direct approach, playing the ball into the striker's feet whenever they can. He has been unable to return the favour thus far, however, succumbing to the challenges from the opposition and squandering possession cheaply.

  • 46'
    SubstitutionGeorginio WijnaldumLuciano Narsingh

  • 46'
The second half is underway! Guus Hiddink makes a much-needed change as Luciano Narsingh comes on. The PSV attacker will provide a greater presence in the final third and his pace and direct play should help stretch the Turkish defence. Wijnaldum is the one to be replaced, which means Afellay will likely slide back into midfield.

  • The first-half performance by the Dutch is eerily similar to that against Kazakhstan at the Amsterdam ArenA back in October. They found themselves 1-0 down at the break before turning it around in the second half and earning a 3-1 victory. With all due respect to Kazakhstan, there is a big gulf in class between these two opponents, however, and it will take all hands on deck for them to find that magic yet again this evening.

  • HALF TIME: NETHERLANDS 0-1 TURKEY. The Oranje have enjoyed the bulk of possession, but have precious little to show for it as Burak Yilmaz's goal has Faith Terim's side in front at the break. This would be a massive result for Turkey, while the Netherlands could really use all three points to give themselves a realistic shot at securing automatic qualification.

  • 45' + 2'
Extra time fizzles out with little threat posed by the Dutch, with the exception of a teasing cross from Afellay, despite a lengthy two-minute spell in possession. The hosts have their work cut out for them in the second half.

  • 45'
There will be two minutes of added time at the end of this first half...

  • 43'
BRILLIANT SAVE! Sneijder tries to power a cross through into the mess of bodies in the centre and De Vrij manages to stick a leg out and direct it goalwards. His looping effort is headed in, but Babacan does so well to dive across and palm it out. It's a tremendous reactionary stop from the keeper!

  • 42'
    Yellow Card Gökhan Töre
Tore has put in some exceptional work to track the runs of Blind into attack, but the left-back gets the better of him here as he's forced to slide in and take out the Dutch defender on the edge of the area. That will see him pick up the first yellow card of the match, as well.

  • 41'
Turkey have really grown into this game and have been the better of the two teams since their sluggish start. The traveling fans have made this seem like something of a home game and you can see the confidence it has given them as they get forward.

  • 39'
The Amsterdam ArenA is growing restless and they have every reason to be upset. Their side have fallen behind yet again, as they did early in the qualification phase against Kazakhstan. The absence of Robben and Van Persie is certainly showing, as Huntelaar has received very little service up top, acting as a lone striker.

  • 37'
    Assist Volkan Şen

  • 37'
    Goal Burak Yılmaz
TURKEY SNATCH A SHOCK LEAD THROUGH BURAK YILMAZ! It's exceptional play from Tore out on the left, who has the beating of Sneijder before crossing it into the penalty area. De Vrij doesn't get enough distance to his clearing header and Sen keeps the pressure on, passing it off for Yilmaz who takes a step to his right and powers a shot past Cillessen, with the aid of a slight deflection.

  • 35'
STAT ATTACK: The two teams were placed in the same group in the qualification phase for the 2014 World Cup. Netherlands registered a pair of 2-0 victories in Amsterdam and Istanbul.

  • 33'
Hiddink cannot be pleased with his side's play in the last 10 minutes or so. They have been lacking creativity in the final third and with Huntelaar being left alone inside the penalty area, options have been limited. The addition of a second striker would really benefit the hosts, who seem a bit crowded and confused in midfield at the moment.

  • 31'
Yilmaz has done very well in possession. The striker is lacking options when the ball arrives, but he's managed to fend off the advances of the Dutch defenders and win a couple of free kicks for his side, though they have amounted to very little for the visitors.

  • 29'
After a brief spell on the sidelines to get patched up, Stefan de Vrij is back on and he shows his worth, striding across to put in a good challenge on Sen, before rising high over Yilmaz to clear a cross from Erkin. The double intervention earns a nice round of applause from the home supporters.

  • 27'
The competitive nature of both teams has been on full display in this first half. You can see how much this game means to either side, with every loose ball being fiercely contested and every inch of space having to be fought for. It is making for a tremendously passionate encounter.

  • 25'
STAT ATTACK: Turkey are winless in their last seven European qualifying matches away from home (D4, L3). They have been held scoreless in five of those contests. Their last away victory in the competition came against Kazakhstan in September of 2010.

  • 23'
Depay is at it again! First a clever dummy from the winger allows the ball to run to Sneijder, who then lays off a quick return pass. Depay has a go at goal from 25 yards out, but Babacan is able to get across and hold on to prevent Huntelaar from pouncing on the rebound.

  • 21'
Harsh challenge! In a desperate attempt to try and win the ball back and keep the pressure on the Turkish defence, Ibrahim Afellay slides late into the left leg of Erkin. There didn't appear to be much intent in the tackle and the Olympiakos-man will escape without a booking.

  • 19'
Clever play from Van der Wiel, who looks to atone for his earlier mistake, and he does well to stride into space on the right flank. The PSG-man in well-renowned for his ability to provide good crosses into the area, but his end product is not up to par here as he fails to pick out Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

  • 17'
The Dutch look a bit rattled after nearly conceding the opener and Turkey are looking much more confidence now. The hosts have been broken down far too easily at the back in these qualifiers thus far and their vulnerability is on full display here.

  • 15'
GOAL-SAVING BLOCK! What a chance for Turkey off the counter! Exceptional play from Caner Erkin who makes a tremendous run forward from left-back and beats Gregory van der Wiel all-too easily. He sends a sensational cutback pass into the path of Yilmaz who turns and fires, but Bruno Martins Indi gets his head to it to keep it out!

  • 13'
The Oranje have completely dominated the opening stages of the match, with Turkey hardly having a sniff of the ball. The have yet to string more than a couple of passes together, while Burak Yilmaz appears to be in for a long night as he is left all alone up top to try and hold the ball up amidst a swarm of orange jerseys.

  • 11'
STAT ATTACK: The Netherlands have never lost a European qualifier (including play-offs) as the home team in their history, in 51 attempts (W42, D9).

  • 9'
INCHES WIDE! Blind and Depay are showing an exceptional understanding of one another early on and as a result, have caused all sorts of problems for Gokhan Gonul in defence. The PSV winger is able to pick out Sneijder, but his drive from 30 yards out is sent wide of the near post.

  • 7'
Brilliant build-up! Daley Blind and Memphis Depay work a tidy one-two on the left, and the PSV winger takes the return pass and surges into the area. He finds a pocket of space, but tries to drive a shot in at the far post instead of trying to place it, and Volkan Babacan is able to dive across and get a strong hand to it.

  • 5'
There has been a whole lot of nothing taking place as we hit the five-minute mark. The ball is largely being contained in midfield, with the Dutch starting to amp up the pressure just a bit, as the crowd urges them forward.

  • 3'
The Dutch start as they so often like to do, passing it around at the back and getting everyone a touch of the ball. They have yet to really relinquish possession, but have hardly shown much intent to attack straight from kick-off.

  • 1'
We are underway! Netherlands in their classic all-oranje home strip, attacking left to right, with Turkey in white and red. Here we go!

  • The Dutch supporters, who have been known to make plenty of noise themselves, let out a raucous applause as their national anthem comes to a close, doing their best to drown out the traveling support - and it has made for quite the impressive atmosphere inside the Amsterdam ArenA!

  • Plenty of Turkish supporters have made the trip to Amsterdam and their boisterous nature is on display early as they jeer the Dutch names announced through the loudspeakers, with the exception of captain Wesley Sneijder, who plays with Super Lig club Galatasaray.

  • The visitors will have to make do without Atletico Madrid star Arda Turan, who misses out due to suspension, while in a rather shocking decision, Faith Terim has opted to leave Bayer Leverkusen star Hakan Calhanoglu on the bench for this important clash. Ozan Tufan pushes up into midfield, with Gohan Gonul taking his place at right-back and Olcay Sahan moving to the bench. In an attempt to bring more pace to his side, Terim is going with one striker, Burak Yilmaz, bringing pacey winger Gokhan Tore into the starting XI in place of forward Umut Bulut. Lastly, Semih Kaya has been left out of the squad altogether, meaning Wesley Sneijder's Galatasaray teammate Hakan Balta picks up a start at centre-back.

  • The Oranje's preparations for the match have been hampered by injuries to star players Arjen Robben and Robin van Persie, both of whom have been held out of this latest round of qualifiers. This paves the way for PSV starlet Memphis Depay to pick up a start, while Ibrahim Afellay slides up to attack, with Georginio Wijnaldum stepping into midfield. Two other changes have been made by Guus Hiddink following their 6-0 trouncing of Latvia, with Nigel de Jong getting the start in midfield, pushing Daley Blind to left-back and Jetro Willems to the bench, while Bruno Martins Indi replaces Jeffrey Bruma in defence.

  • TURKEY SUBS: Belozoglu, Calhanoglu, Erdinc, Bulut, Sahan, Tekin, Gunok, Ekici, Kazim-Richards, Altintop, Ozbayrakli, Gulum.

  • NETHERLANDS SUBS: Jaanmat, Veltman, Bruma, Willems, Clasie, Narsingh, L. de Jong, Klaassen, Promes, Krul, Vermeer, Dost.

  • TURKEY (4-3-3): Babacan; Gonul, Aziz, Balta, Erkin; Topal, Tufan, Inan; Tore, Sen, Yilmaz.

  • NETHERLANDS (4-3-3): Cillessen; van der Wiel, de Vrij, Martins Indi, Blind; de Jong, Wijnaldum, Sneijder; Afellay, Depay, Huntelaar.

  • CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS:

  • With Czech Republic and Iceland both picking up points earlier today, this match becomes that much more crucial for both these two teams. Netherlands sit in third place currently, two points ahead of Turkey who are in danger of falling out of the top three race with another defeat this evening. The Oranje cannot get anywhere near first place with a victory today, but they would gain ground on top ranked Czech Republic following their draw, while remaining within three points of Iceland for second.

  • Good evening footy fans around the world, and welcome to another lovely evening of Euro Cup qualification. The Amsterdam ArenA is our venue tonight as the Netherlands look to get their qualifying hopes back on track against a Turkey side barely clinging to life in Group A. I am Alex Moretto and I will be your in-game host, guiding you through the match LIVE as it happens!

The time has come to galvanize www.mayorgalvan.com
Today’s Beautiful Hadith is about Guardians

Ibn `Umar RA reported: Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, "All of you are guardians and are responsible for your subjects. The ruler is a guardian and responsible for his subjects; the man is a guardian of his family; the woman is guardian in her husband's house and responsible for her wards; a servant is guardian of his master's property and responsible for his ward. So all of you are guardians and are responsible for your subjects." (Bukhari and Muslim)

    DAILY GOSPEL

"Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." John 6:68

    Saturday, 28 March 2015

    Saturday of Lazarus

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 11,55-57.12,1-11.

Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went up from the country to Jerusalem before the Passover to purify themselves.
They were looking for Jesus and were asking one another as they stood in the temple, ‘What do you think? Surely he will not come to the festival, will he?’
Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that anyone who knew where Jesus was should let them know, so that they might arrest him.
Six days before the Passover Jesus came to Bethany, the home of Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.
There they gave a dinner for him. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those at the table with him.
Mary took a pound of costly perfume made of pure nard, anointed Jesus’ feet, and wiped them with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (the one who was about to betray him), said,
‘Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?’
(He said this not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief; he kept the common purse and used to steal what was put into it.)
Jesus said, ‘Leave her alone. She bought it so that she might keep it for the day of my burial.
You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.’
When the great crowd of the Jews learned that he was there, they came not only because of Jesus but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.
So the chief priests planned to put Lazarus to death as well,
since it was on account of him that many of the Jews were deserting and were believing in Jesus.
