The National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced 13 boys and 26 girls as 2015 NSCAA High School Winter-Spring All-America selections. Several Potomac area players have made the list. The Daily Press has announced their 2015 Soccer All-Stars for the local high school season, and 18 Virginia Legacy players were selected. Capital FC's rising U-14 boys spent the last week touring Spain and playing against local teams in the Barcelona area, where they won all four matches they played.

The U.S. Under-18 Men's National Team's first domestic training camp of the year is underway in Carson, California. The camp, which runs from July 6-14, will also see the team participate in the 2015 U-18 Men's NTC Invitational Tournament. Major League Soccer announced this week that each MLS club will receive $100,000 per year for the next five years ($500,000 total) in additional funds to invest in their roster outside of the player salary budget. The Richmond Kickers conclude a three-game road stand when they travel to Saint Louis FC tomorrow. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m., broadcast live from St. Louis Park on YouTube.com/RichmondKickers. FC Frederick faces current first-place Fredericksburg FC in NPSL action tonight at 6pm at Hood College, then completes its season Sunday at current third-place Chesterfield United. Maryland men's soccer head coach Sasho Cirovski has added two more players to an already stellar 2015 recruiting class with the signing of Cody Albrecht and Paul Bin, the program announced Wednesday. Virginia Tech head women's soccer coach Chugger Adair has announced the 2015 schedule, a challenging slate that features six teams that competed in the 2014 NCAA Tournament. VMI women's soccer has promoted long-time volunteer assistant coach LT Kristen Laraway to assistant coach and has also added Kelly Bergmann as the program's new volunteer assistant. UMBC Women's Soccer Head Coach Leslie Wray has announced the Retrievers' schedule for the 2015 season, which includes 10 games in the state of Maryland, including a pair of Battle of Baltimore contests set to take place at Retriever Soccer Park, as well as a tournament at George Mason. The D.C. United Academy concluded its 2014-15 season in Westfield, Ind., with the Under-18 team competing in the playoff competition and the Under-16 and Under-14 teams participating in a showcase event. US Club Soccer is hosting the National Premier Leagues (NPL) Finals, July 9-13, followed by the National Cup XIV Finals, July 17-20, both at Grand Park in Westfield, Ind.

USWNT midfielder Lauren Holiday announces plans to retire: Lauren Holiday used the United States national team's World Cup championship celebration event on Tuesday in Los Angeles as the time and place to announce her retirement from international soccer. Holiday's retirement had been long speculated, but things moved to a fever pitch following the team's victory celebration on Monday in Vancouver. Transfer Window is now open: MLS clubs are poised to make big waves during the summer as the Secondary Transfer Window opened up on Wednesday, July 8 (through August 6), allowing clubs to bolster their rosters with international talent as they prepare for a final push towards the playoffs. |
