This is my dream: Open a clinic for children with autism that provides them with behavioral therapy services in Laredo.

Will I achieve it? Not if Republicans in the Texas Legislature get their way.

The GOP is trying to repeal the Texas DREAM Act, which allows undocumented Texans like me to pay in-state college tuition. I'm a single mom, and if Senate Bill 1819 becomes law, I won't be able to afford grad school and make my dream come true. That's why I attended a public hearing at the Capitol on Monday and told my story.

Check out my full testimony in support of the Texas DREAM Act, and add your name if you think our representatives should stop trying to undo good legislation and start listening to my story and thousands of others across the state.

I didn't even know I was undocumented until my senior year in high school. My parents brought me to Laredo from Veracruz, Mexico, when I was four. But thanks to the Texas DREAM Act, I graduated from Texas A&M International University, where I volunteered and joined clubs focused on giving back to the community because I was so grateful for the opportunity to be there.

After college, I got a job as a speech therapist so that I can help kids with autism like my brother. I love what I do, so I feel like I never work a day in my life -- it's amazing. Now, I want so badly to achieve my goal of opening my own clinic.
