The Baltimore Blast traveled to Monterrey on Sunday for the conclusion of the 2014-15 MASL season. Down 1-0 in the MASL Championship Series, the Blast were able to win Game 2 by a score of 6-4, forcing a mini game for the MASL Championship. In a hard fought mini game that needed overtime to declare a champion, the Flash defeated the Blast 4-3.

The Washington Spirit opened their preseason schedule with a convincing 4-0 victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies.
 
Baltimore Blast's William Vanzela was named MASL Goalkeeper of the Year and Pat Healey was named MASL Defender of the Year.
 
The FC Richmond U12 Magic departed last Thursday for their Milestone trip to Clearwater, Florida.

D.C. United will loan four players to the Richmond Kickers this season as part of the two clubs' affiliation agreement.
 
The Richmond Kickers have signed midfielder Ricky Burke, and defender Stephen Basso will return for the 2015 season.
 
D.C. United has launched a partnership with the U.S. Soccer Foundation's Passback Program to distribute soccer equipment to children in the greater Washington area.
 
Local Development Academy teams were in action over the weekend.
 
The 2015 Maryland State Cup schedules have been published.  
 
Some 300 teams will compete in the PWSI Icebreaker Tournament this weekend, March 28-29 which features U-9 to U-19 girls age groups and U-13 to U-19 divisions on the boys side. 
 
The Alexandria Soccer Kickoff finished their girls weekend on Sunday, and scores have been posted.
 
The Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA) has awarded a contract to Sports Construction Management, AstroTurf and Brock International to install the Virginia Soccer Training Center's (VSTC) first two artificial turf fields at the recently opened 50 acre complex located in Spotsylvania County, VA.
 
The Dallas Cup has posted schedules for the 2015 tournament. Several local teams will travel to Texas to compete in the elite tournament.
 
Fredericksburg FC is looking for volunteer TOPSoccer Buddies. The program for players with disabilities will kick off Saturday, March 28.
 
The Adele Dolansky Scholarship Application is now available, and the deadline to apply is May 1

Clint Dempsey out for Friendlies against Denmark and Switzerland with hamstring strain: U.S. Men's National Team captain Clint Dempsey suffered a right hamstring strain during training Monday in Zurich and will not be available for the USA's upcoming friendlies against Denmark and Switzerland. Dempsey returned to Seattle on Tuesday and is expected to miss 2-3 weeks.
 
FIFA may regret a Qatar World Cup after all: Since 1930, every World Cup has been played during the months of June and July, with the occasional match as early as May. Last week, FIFA confirmed that the 2022 tournament, in Qatar, will be held during the winter, with the final scheduled for December 18th. The New Yorker explains why FIFA is setting benchmarks that will lose them money in years to come all because of this move.
 
MLS likely to announce Minnesota as next expansion location: All signs point towards Minnesota as the next location for Major League Soccer expansion. The league sent out a release earlier today saying, "MLS, Don Garber and Dr. Bill McGuire will make an important announcement on the future of soccer in Minnesota."
