John Frusciante - Murderers

HRC

Tell Governor Abbott that it is time to stop blocking the way of equality and the law.

On Friday, the Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage bans are unconstitutional -- making marriage equality the law of the land across the nation.
However, Texas Governor Greg Abbott continues to stand in the way of marriage equality in Texas, issuing an order prioritizing religious beliefs over equal protection of the law. He is even encouraging government officials such as county clerks to deny couples marriage licenses on the basis of their religious beliefs.
Enough is enough: tell Governor Abbott that it is time to stop encouraging discrimination by blocking the way of equality.

Stop blocking the way of marriage equality!

Dear Governor Greg Abbott,

When the Supreme Court ruled on Friday that same-sex marriage bans are unconstitutional, in turn bringing marriage equality to thousands of loving, committed couples in the Lone Star State, I was elated.

However, my elation quickly turned to disappointment when you swiftly encouraged individual government officials to deny the rule of law by refusing to grant marriage licenses and marriage benefits to couples in Texas -- simply because of whom they love.

As a supporter of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest civil rights organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Americans, and as a resident of Texas -- I ask that you stop blocking the way of the Supreme Court ruling on marriage equality. I ask that you stop encouraging public officials to discriminate on the basis of religious beliefs. I ask that you use your status of leadership within this great state to encourage government officials to perform their duties to ensure same-sex couples are granted marriage licenses and access to marriage benefits, following the rule of law.

Sincerely,
James Partsch-Galvan
